Salary: USD 177,700 - 240,400 / annual
Duolingo is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join the Ads team within the Monetization pillar. This role focuses on building and scaling Duolingo's advertising business while maintaining a seamless user experience for over 500 million learners worldwide.
You will develop, release, and maintain native iOS applications primarily in Swift. The team owns systems behind ad serving, mediation, demand management, in-product ad formats, and surfaces. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, data science, machine learning, and ad operations teams to deliver high-quality ads that delight learners and meaningfully contribute to Duolingo's bottom line.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating on software projects spanning product design and backend integration
- Developing and maintaining production-level native iOS applications
- Mentoring junior engineers and setting technical direction across the company
- Designing clean, maintainable APIs
- Optimizing performance using iOS SDK tools and techniques
- Writing testable, well-structured code with comprehensive unit tests
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design
- Programming experience in Swift
Preferred qualifications:
- Strong proficiency in Swift with proven production-level application experience
- Deep technical knowledge of iOS development for iPhone/iPad using Cocoa Touch and related frameworks
- Experience with multithreaded programming
- Knowledge of iOS performance optimization techniques
- Experience designing clean APIs and writing testable code
