Crusoe is building vertically integrated AI infrastructure, owning the full stack from power generation to compute delivery. As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer, you will own control system deliverables for major systems within Crusoe's modular data center platform. Your role bridges design intent and manufactured hardware, moving between the design desk and factory floor to ensure control packages are repeatable, factory-verified, and field-ready on first deployment.
You will independently produce point lists, instrument schedules, and control system drawings for assigned systems, then lead factory acceptance testing before module shipment. You'll resolve non-standard conditions, equipment substitutions, and installation deviations with minimal direction, making judgment calls that keep production moving. Your deliverables become the reference standard for construction, commissioning, and operations teams. You will mentor Engineer I and II teammates on control standards and best practices. Denver is your home base with approximately 25% travel to manufacturing partners and deployment sites.
Key responsibilities include: owning I&C design deliverables from concept through as-built; developing and executing FAT protocols and holding release gates; resolving equipment substitutions and field deviations by adapting established procedures; improving repeatable design packages and test procedures; leading technical coordination with control panel fabricators and systems integrators; coordinating control loop checkout and startup support; mentoring junior engineers; and tracking deliverable schedules against project milestones.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 to 8 years of professional experience in industrial instrumentation and controls with demonstrated independent ownership of design deliverables across design and commissioning lifecycle
- Strong working command of Rockwell and Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000 and ControlLogix or CompactLogix hardware; ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot existing logic
- Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA or comparable platform, including tag architecture, screen development, historian configuration, and troubleshooting integration issues
- Proven ability to author and execute test procedures, drive discrepancies to closure, and make release decisions based on verification accuracy
- Comfort operating in active manufacturing and construction environments with credibility to work through installation and calibration issues with technicians, trades, and vendors
- Track record of producing accurate, well-documented deliverables that downstream teams can rely on without rework
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
BONUS: Data center or mission-critical environment experience; modular or prefabricated delivery platform experience; practical fluency in Modbus TCP, BACnet, or OPC UA; systems integrator or EPC background; OT cybersecurity awareness; relevant certifications (Rockwell, Inductive Automation); genuine interest in energy and AI infrastructure.
