Kindred is a members-only home swapping platform that has grown to 300,000+ members across 150+ cities since launching in 2022. The company has raised over $150M from top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures, and NEA, and is backed by proven founders from Opendoor's early team. As Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will serve as the infrastructure lead, owning critical decisions around cloud architecture, platform strategy, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code implementation. You'll design and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure supporting rapid product development and a growing global platform. Key responsibilities include developing internal tools and automation to improve developer productivity, working cross-functionally with engineering and data teams to ensure infrastructure scales for future growth, and establishing best practices while mentoring engineers on cloud architecture and operational excellence. You bring 5+ years of technical experience in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles. You have deep hands-on AWS expertise (EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, VPC, IAM) and strong coding skills in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages. You've implemented CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation). You understand observability, monitoring, logging, and incident response practices. You've led infrastructure initiatives at high-growth companies, making critical architectural decisions while balancing cost, performance, security, and velocity. You're pragmatic, not dogmatic, and treat engineering as your client—viewing infrastructure as an enabler of innovation and exceptional consumer experiences. Kindred offers competitive cash compensation and equity, comprehensive health benefits, flexible time off plus 12 paid holidays, 21 annual credits to stay in Kindred homes, $4,000 annual travel stipend, and a remote-first work environment with optional in-person gatherings at San Francisco HQ.
