Hades is a deep-tech mining startup founded in 2025, based in Munich and backed by €20M in pre-seed and seed funding from European resilience investors. The company is developing ultra-deep drilling technologies to extract critical minerals and energy resources, with a focus on European resource sovereignty and sustainability.
As Senior In-Situ Recovery Engineer, you will build and lead the technical foundation of Hades' In-Situ Recovery (ISR/ISL) business line. You'll leverage proven ISR expertise—typically from uranium or copper operations—to recover critical minerals from European deposits, including geologies that conventional ISR has not previously accessed. A key part of your role involves collaborating with the founding team to integrate Hades' ultra-deep drilling technology into ISR operations, extending recovery capabilities into deeper and harder host rock formations beyond traditional sandstone-hosted operations.
Key responsibilities include: evaluating deposits for ISR amenability (ore-body delineation, host-rock permeability, hydrogeology, geochemistry); designing wellfield layouts for injection, production, and monitoring wells; building hydrogeological and reactive-transport models (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PHREEQC) to forecast flow, recovery, and excursion risk; developing leaching strategies and lixiviant chemistry in coordination with downstream process plants; planning and engineering pilot wellfields end-to-end from well construction through commissioning; defining monitoring, excursion-control, and environmental-risk strategies; and supporting permitting and stakeholder engagement.
You'll need 5+ years of hands-on ISR/ISL experience (uranium, copper, or similar commodities), solid hydrogeological modelling expertise, experience designing leaching strategies and wellfield-to-plant integration, familiarity with wellfield planning and well design, and understanding of environmental and regulatory risk. Excellent English communication skills and willingness to relocate to Munich are required. Preferred qualifications include field experience commissioning or operating ISR wellfields, familiarity with reactive-transport and geochemical codes, exposure to ion exchange/solvent extraction/precipitation processes, experience adapting ISR to non-sandstone host rock, and systems-level thinking across geology and process engineering.
