As a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer, you will own system-level architecture and requirements for assigned hardware development areas. You'll decompose product guidance into use cases and functional requirements, working closely with stakeholders and domain engineers throughout the product development lifecycle. Your responsibilities include authoring and maintaining systems engineering artifacts, unblocking multidisciplinary teams with new perspectives and requirements, and using data and engineering experience to qualify work products and ensure designs align with organizational goals.
You'll foster collaboration and learning across groups, driving architecture and attribute trade decisions in multi-domain engineering environments. This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to make technical decisions with limited information.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field, plus at least 4 years of experience (or 8 years total with advanced degrees). You must have experience designing, implementing, and testing complex hardware-software systems in requirements-driven industries such as aerospace, autonomous systems, or large-scale computing infrastructure. Expertise in systems engineering analysis methods (Activity Diagrams, Functional Decompositions, FMEAs, test plans) and cultivating non-functional attributes like Safety and Security is essential.
Desirable qualifications include familiarity with industry standards decomposition and Hardware Safety standards (ISO 26262), model-based systems engineering methodologies (Jama, Polarion), and requirements management database systems. A passion for self-driving technologies and solving hard problems is expected.
