The Senior HR Business Partner is an individual contributor role responsible for partnering with US and Canada business leaders to execute people strategies that support organizational performance and growth. Reporting to the Principal HR Business Partner, you will serve as the primary HR advisor for the US and Canada client group, covering this territory directly and in full.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing sound, commercially informed HR guidance to leaders on moderate-to-complex workforce and talent challenges within the US and Canada region, exercising judgment on approach and escalating matters that exceed scope
- Managing moderate-to-complex employee relations cases end-to-end within US and Canada employment frameworks, balancing legal compliance, business priorities, and employee experience
- Delivering and locally adapting HR programs (performance cycles, workforce planning inputs, career development processes) for the client group in line with enterprise standards
- Supporting workforce planning, organizational design, and post-merger workforce integration workstreams
- Interpreting workforce data and people metrics to identify trends and inform recommendations to leaders, including during periods of increased organizational scrutiny (audit readiness, compliance maturation, scale-up or pre-exit phases)
- Applying compensation data and benchmarking to support pay recommendations, offer construction, and pay equity considerations, escalating matters requiring Principal-level or Total Rewards review
- Using HRIS-derived reporting and organizational data to evaluate trends and support evidence-based decisions
During the initial phase, you will work under close coaching from the Principal HR Business Partner while building full ownership of the client group; oversight reduces as competence is demonstrated. You may be asked to support the Principal HR Business Partner on workforce matters outside the US and Canada as the function's footprint grows.
The role is hybrid with 1 day per week in the Montreal office. Behavox offers competitive cash compensation, equity awards aligned with long-term value creation, comprehensive health insurance, 30 days annual time off plus public holidays and sick leave, and modern offices in Montreal/Toronto downtown.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Working knowledge of US and Canadian employment legislation and regulatory frameworks, with ability to independently manage moderate-to-complex employee relations matters within those jurisdictions
- Strong HR business partnering capability: ability to apply working knowledge of business priorities and workforce needs to align people initiatives with business objectives and provide trusted advisory support to leaders and managers at all levels
- Workforce planning and organizational design expertise: ability to apply workforce planning methodologies and organizational design principles to support headcount planning, org changes, and business effectiveness
- Talent management and performance management knowledge to support capability development
- People analytics capability: ability to use workforce metrics, organizational data, and HRIS-derived reporting to evaluate trends and support evidence-based decisions
- Working knowledge of employment fundamentals in other jurisdictions (UK, EMEA, APAC) is desirable, as the role may support the wider HR Business Partner team outside its core territory
