Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Harness Engineer to join the Omen team at their Costa Mesa headquarters. Omen is an autonomous hover-to-cruise air vehicle (AAV) designed for runway-independent operations from ship decks, beaches, and remote locations. The platform has secured a mass-production contract for 50 systems and represents a significant advancement in Group 3 autonomous aircraft technology.
In this role, you will provide engineering expertise to design, fabricate, and integrate harness systems while representing the harness discipline across projects. You'll investigate, plan, and develop harnesses meeting diverse technical requirements, including research and selection of connectors, back-shells, contacts, wire, shielding, and cable construction for environmental compliance.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop harness system block diagrams and wire diagrams for production release, participating in design reviews, and preparing assembly instructions and test procedures. You'll provide guidance to the electrical team on system requirements from engineering, product management, quality, and compliance stakeholders. Your work will ensure designs meet system-level electrical requirements for voltage, current, bandwidth, redundancy, and EMI/EMC standards.
You'll perform electrical trade studies for wire gauge, shielding, connector selection, and topology, while analyzing and mitigating electrical risks such as voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI susceptibility, and thermal effects. The role operates in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and customer-operated hardware.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years of hands-on harness design experience for rugged commercial, industrial, aerospace, or military applications, and direct experience with harness manufacturers. You must be familiar with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, RS422, RS232, 1553), applicable harness standards, and MIL-STD requirements. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
Preferred qualifications include proficiency in 3D CAD wire harness routing (NX, Siemens Capital, CATIA, CREO), ability to generate formboard drawings, high-voltage (800V) design experience, familiarity with aviation environmental standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160), and hands-on vehicle integration experience from competitive engineering programs.
