Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Harness Engineer II to design, develop, and integrate electrical harnesses for spacecraft based at their Long Beach headquarters. This role combines electrical engineering expertise with hands-on harness design and fabrication support across the full product lifecycle. Key responsibilities include designing electrical harness systems for spacecraft with attention to connector selection, wire specification, shielding, and routing. You will generate wiring diagrams, pinout tables, and interface definitions based on spacecraft interconnect requirements. The role requires close collaboration with systems engineering, mechanical engineering, and assembly/integration/test teams to ensure seamless harness integration into spacecraft platforms. You will create and maintain Bills of Materials in PLM tools, develop fabrication drawings using Capital Essentials, NX, and Teamcenter, and support harness fabrication processes while ensuring compliance with space-grade standards. Electrical responsibilities include performing design analysis to meet performance and reliability requirements, supporting electrical system schematics, participating in design reviews, and troubleshooting electrical issues during fabrication and testing. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of electrical engineering or avionics experience, ideally with aerospace/defense background. A Bachelor's degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering is required. Nice-to-have qualifications include Master's/PhD, satellite development program experience, proficiency in power distribution and signal integrity principles, and familiarity with harness design tools and industry standards like those for space-grade electrical systems.
