Salary: USD 120,000 - 140,000 / annual
Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain through at-home EEG and cardiopulmonary diagnostic platforms for clinical development and clinical care. The company serves life sciences partners developing novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders, as well as a diagnostics business delivering reimbursable assessments.
As a Senior Hardware Test Engineer, you will contribute to the development of new and modified EEG and Home Sleep Test systems that meet application, business, customer, and regulatory requirements. You will report to the VP of Device Systems and work closely with hardware, firmware, system, and software engineers across the Device Team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and execute device testing in accordance with Beacon's Quality Management System (QMS)
- Develop and document comprehensive test plans, test protocols, and test scripts for embedded systems (hardware, firmware, and software) based on design specifications and requirements
- Develop and maintain test procedures, fixtures, and equipment
- Conduct functional, integration, system, and regression testing on hardware and firmware
- Troubleshoot and resolve product issues in collaboration with hardware and firmware engineers
- Ensure products meet industry standards, safety, and regulatory requirements (FDA, CE, IEC 60601)
- Implement process improvements and test automation to enhance product quality and testing efficiency
- Contribute to product idealization, development, integration verification, and manufacturing phases
- Document design and production processes in accordance with applicable product development procedures and regulatory requirements
The role is hybrid, requiring approximately 3 days per week in the Boston office with flexible scheduling. Beacon maintains office hubs in Boston, New York, and Paris and emphasizes asynchronous work practices.
**Requirements:**
- Education: BS in engineering or related field (MS or above preferred)
- Work Experience: 5+ years of professional engineering experience with a BS degree, OR 3+ years with an MS degree or above
- Experience writing detailed technical specifications and documentation (requirements, test plans, protocols, reports)
- Ability to read and follow electrical schematics
- Experience with embedded software running on real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python
- Experience troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis of hardware and firmware issues in electromechanical systems
- Experience with version control and project management tools (Git, JIRA, GitHub)
- Preferred: Knowledge of design controls and regulations for medical devices
