Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Ground Software Engineer I to develop cutting-edge spacecraft ground software for Space Systems missions. You will be based in Long Beach, CA and responsible for creating web-based software architecture for spacecraft operations, working closely with flight software developers, operations personnel, and systems engineers.
Key responsibilities include developing and evolving web-based software architecture for spacecraft operations, deploying and configuring the Rocket Lab Ground Data System, establishing monitoring and alerting systems to detect degradation and outages, and identifying ground systems issues with technical insight for resolution. You will support the Space Systems organization with deliverables for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline, 5+ years of software development experience in Python, 2-5 years of cloud engineering experience, expertise in designing and deploying scalable cloud solutions, and experience architecting web-based software applications. An active Secret Clearance is required.
Desirable qualifications include full-stack development experience (Python/Golang backend, TypeScript/JavaScript frontend with Angular/React, InfluxDB/PostgreSQL databases), Python web frameworks like FastAPI, microservice architecture experience, team leadership on system development, aerospace industry background, CCSDS standards familiarity, CompTIA Security+, and cloud disaster recovery/cost optimization expertise. Git, SQL, Jira, and Kubernetes experience are also valued.
