Impulse Space seeks a Senior Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer specializing in propulsive controls. You will own all aspects of vehicle guidance and control across development and operational phases, working with a fast-paced, agile engineering team.
Key responsibilities include designing, analyzing, and tuning robust flight control algorithms for spacecraft—specifically large upper stages and landers. You will generate stability analyses and control verification data for Impulse's propulsive missions, ensuring vehicle performance meets mission requirements. Your technical contributions span GNC software development, including both flight code and simulation environments.
Beyond individual technical work, you will mentor other engineers and establish best practices for rocket vehicle control systems. You'll create reusable tools for all flight vehicle GNC systems, enabling rapid mission realization. You will utilize Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) environments to evaluate vehicle performance and verify flight software implementations.
You will resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions and communicate design needs, intent, and capability to the broader engineering team. This role requires strong collaboration across disciplines and a commitment to advancing propulsive vehicle control technology.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related science discipline. 7+ years of experience in propulsive vehicle control design and analysis. Proficiency in MATLAB and C++.
