Salary: USD 191,000 - 253,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The company is fielding next-generation Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) for seabed exploration, operating ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth platforms at scale, and executing multi-million-dollar contracts while performing Robot-as-a-Service operations.
As a Senior GNC Engineer, you will lead the architecture selection, design, and implementation of Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) subsystems and control schemes for autonomous robotic platforms. You will integrate technology from best-in-class third-party vendors, research partners, and Anduril's internal product teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead GNC architecture and control scheme design for autonomous platforms
- Integrate third-party vendor technology and internal product solutions
- Contribute to embedded subsystem design and development
- Develop real-time embedded software using RTOS
- Create test and simulation fixtures for software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing
- Develop modeling and simulation capabilities to capture and validate test data
- Analyze control system test data to verify vehicle performance and debug issues
- Conduct root cause analyses for vehicle anomalies related to GNC
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment
- Mentor software and hardware engineers from diverse backgrounds as part of a multi-disciplinary team
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 6 years of experience developing high-assurance, safety-critical GNC software, including cascading controls, adaptive controls, and transfer functions
- Strong systems programming skills: algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and optimization
- Extensive experience with MATLAB and Simulink
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiarity with communications buses and protocols (CAN, CANFD, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet)
- Experience writing C and/or C++
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
- Experience working with and testing electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience with DO-178 or similar certifications
- Familiarity with open-source control software (PX4, ArduPilot, ROS)
- Experience with RTOS
