Liftoff is an AI-powered performance marketing platform for mobile apps, serving over 6,600 businesses across 74 countries. As a Senior Gen AI Software Engineer, you'll design and build AI-powered products for the demand-side business, helping teams turn complex data into better decisions and drive customer growth.
You'll work across the full stack, building intelligent systems and data pipelines in Python, alongside TypeScript and React interfaces. Key responsibilities include owning generative AI product capabilities end-to-end—from understanding user workflows and prototyping through implementation, rollout, measurement, and continuous improvement. You'll rapidly prototype and validate AI solutions using focused experiments, then turn what works into production-ready capabilities.
Specific focus areas include building agentic workflows that reason over campaign, customer, creative, and performance data; partnering with decision makers to understand workflows and integrate AI agents into daily work; designing how AI systems access and use relevant information; and building systems that make AI workflows reliable in production, including tool use, state management, failure recovery, and human review boundaries.
You'll also develop evaluation systems to measure whether AI features accomplish intended tasks, build instrumentation to understand quality, adoption, business impact, latency, cost, and failure modes in production, and apply appropriate safeguards for customer data and high-impact workflows. The role includes mentoring other engineers and helping establish shared practices for designing, testing, and operating AI-powered products.
Required: Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience. You should be a seasoned engineer who has built and operated meaningful production products, ideally including zero-to-one work spanning backend services, data, and user interfaces. You must have shipped LLM-powered or AI-assisted products beyond demos and understand practical challenges of reliability, context, tool use, provider changes, latency, cost, and model behavior changes. Strong proficiency in Python and comfort with TypeScript and React, plus solid fundamentals in API design, data modeling, SQL, and testing are essential.
