Vanta is a Series D security and compliance platform helping businesses earn and prove trust through continuous security monitoring and verification. The Authoring Experience team owns how Vanta tests are authored and deployed to customers, from underlying APIs and services to customer-facing experiences.
As a Senior Fullstack Software Engineer, you will own critical platform services and customer-facing APIs that power Vanta's automation platform. Your responsibilities include architecting and rolling out critical platform services from design through large-scale deployment, setting technical standards for customer-facing API design (security, reliability, developer experience), stitching together services across the platform to serve customer use cases, driving architectural decisions through RFCs and design documentation, and mentoring engineers while expanding team review capacity.
You'll work primarily with TypeScript and Node.js on the backend, contribute to React-based customer experiences, and leverage AI tools to accelerate development. The role requires designing clear service boundaries, partnering with data-platform teams on access patterns, and driving complex multi-quarter initiatives to completion.
Required qualifications: 8+ years of backend development building reliable, scalable, fault-tolerant systems; demonstrated experience designing and shipping external or public product APIs (contracts, versioning, authentication, developer experience); systems-thinking approach with data-layer fluency; comfort working in modern frontend codebases (React); track record driving complex, ambiguous initiatives directly and through others; experience rolling out or deprecating major systems safely at scale; strong written design communication and mentorship skills; openness to using AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
Bonus experience includes startup environments, MongoDB at scale, or prior work in security/compliance products. Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship and reside in the United States, performing all work exclusively from US locations.
