Upvest is a fintech infrastructure company on a mission to make investing as easy as spending money. You will join the Upfront team within the Clients Tribe, working on Upvest's operational service panel for enterprise clients. Upfront enables operations, support, and compliance staff at financial institutions to handle first-line requests themselves—viewing end-user accounts, tracking orders, and resolving issues without escalating to Upvest support. The team is exploring how agentic operations and AI can transform financial operations workflows, exposed over MCP (Model Context Protocol).
In this role, you will:
- Take operational problems from concept to production across React/TypeScript frontends and Go backend services
- Own modern interface security for a regulated fintech product handling real end-user funds, including per-client isolation, least-privilege access, and Auth0 integrations
- Expand the operational surface across Upvest's internal domains and develop deep understanding of core systems
- Help define software delivery practices in an AI-enabled company, pushing AI tooling to maximize quality and speed while maintaining compliance
- Build agentic operations with strict audit trails, solving design problems around autonomous agent actions versus human intervention
- Work in weekly cycles with bi-weekly retrospectives, prioritizing high-quality, high-frequency shipping
You will have autonomy to figure out what needs building rather than following rigid specs. Because this is a client-facing team handling financial transactions, the bar for correctness and auditability is extremely high—anything touching client funds must be incident-free.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong product engineering mindset; care about the "why" as much as the "how"; proactively bring ideas
- Solid backend experience in Go, Java, or Kotlin (Go is the primary language; ramp-up time provided)
- Practical experience building modern client-facing interfaces with React and TypeScript
- Experience building products with per-customer configuration without creating custom forks per client
- Deep knowledge of authentication, authorization, and security best practices
- Strong focus on quality, extensibility, and automated testing
- True end-to-end ownership across containers, CI/CD pipelines, and relational data modeling
- Working understanding of event-driven architectures
- Pragmatic engineering approach with ability to make smart tradeoffs under constraints
- Real-world experience using AI tools to drive software engineering workflows (not just code snippets)
- Ability to navigate undefined problems and align other teams without formal authority
IT'S GREAT IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience with investment products or fintech domain
- Experience building operational or back-office tooling for business users
- Experience with identity platforms like Auth0 or multi-tenant isolation
- Experience operating services in decoupled, event-driven systems with modern observability tooling (monitoring, tracing)
