Clara is a fast-growing fintech company in Latin America building the leading solution for corporate payments, financial management, and B2B platforms. The company serves over 20,000 businesses with locally issued corporate cards, bill pay, financing, and a powerful B2B platform. You will serve as a Forward-deployed Engineer, sitting at the intersection of Product Engineering and Go-To-Market teams. You'll be embedded directly with partners and customers to ship integrations rapidly, acting as the primary technical owner for every integration in your portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the full integration lifecycle from qualification through handoff, working hands-on with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Conduct Phase 0 qualification assessments to map systems, data flows, risk surfaces, and build approaches
- Build and configure integration connectors, data mappings, and partner adapters using Clara's integration framework
- Coordinate directly with partner technical teams as the primary technical point of contact
- Partner with Platform/API teams to leverage core primitives and identify reuse opportunities
- Ensure integrations meet Clara's standards: idempotency, observability, secrets management, data minimization, and sandbox testing
- Drive clean handoffs with runbooks, dashboards, on-call assignments, and support playbooks
- Feed learnings back into the platform to identify patterns for shared libraries or configuration
Required qualifications:
- 4+ years of backend software development with hands-on API integration, webhooks, and data mapping experience
- Deep fluency in integration patterns: REST, event-driven architectures, OAuth/token management, idempotency
- Experience working directly with external partners or customers in a technical capacity
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (preferably Java)
- Working knowledge of observability fundamentals: logs, metrics, tracing, alerting, SLOs
- Ability to move fast in ambiguous environments
- Working proficiency in English and Spanish, or English and Portuguese
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Exposure to integration platforms or connector frameworks (N8N, Zapier, or custom equivalents)
- Comfort using AI tools as a force multiplier
Nice-to-have qualifications include fintech/payments experience, PCI/PII compliance familiarity, AWS/Kafka experience, and proficiency in all three languages (Portuguese, Spanish, English).
