Scale's Global Public Sector team is building AI solutions to address critical challenges facing governments worldwide. As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed), you will partner directly with public sector clients to architect, build, and deploy production-grade AI applications that impact millions of citizens.
You'll spend approximately two weeks per month embedded in client offices, collaborating closely with government counterparts to scope requirements, gather feedback, and deliver solutions. Your responsibilities include architecting full-stack applications that integrate AI models with modern frameworks, managing everything from interactive UIs to backend APIs and cloud infrastructure. You'll deploy and maintain systems in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP), ensuring security, scalability, and reliability. You'll also contribute to core platform features designed for reuse across diverse international use cases and partner with design, product, and data teams to build robust, well-architected solutions.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related quantitative field; 5+ years of post-graduation full-stack engineering experience with demonstrated proficiency in React (required), TypeScript, Next.js, Python, Node.js, and databases (PostgreSQL or MongoDB); hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and major cloud platforms; proven ability to architect scalable production applications; experience deploying and troubleshooting complex solutions in customer infrastructure; self-starting approach with technical maturity to navigate ambiguous requirements; strong async communication skills; and experience building with LLMs and understanding of the Gen AI landscape.
