KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join the SEM Experience team in Kaunas. The team builds and scales marketing experiences that help travelers discover KAYAK across its portfolio of global metasearch brands, including momondo, Cheapflights, and HotelsCombined. In this hands-on senior individual contributor role, you will design, develop, and maintain full-stack product features used by millions of travelers. You'll work across the frontend and backend stack, building dynamic landing pages and supporting services that personalize content based on search intent. Your responsibilities include developing and optimizing APIs, backend services, and integrations that support reliable user journeys; translating product and marketing requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions; and making sound architectural decisions with meaningful ownership of technical direction. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and marketing specialists in a distributed, cross-functional environment. Key responsibilities include reviewing and scoping feature requests, participating actively in code reviews, writing and maintaining comprehensive tests across the stack, troubleshooting production issues, and identifying opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability. You'll also mentor less-experienced engineers through day-to-day collaboration and share knowledge across the team. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience, 5+ years building and maintaining web applications, strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, Redux, CSS, Java, and Spring, proficiency with relational databases (preferably MySQL), and solid understanding of software design principles and web application architecture. You should have experience across multiple layers of full-stack systems, including UI, backend services, databases, and search technologies like Elasticsearch, plus strong debugging and analytical skills. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with Git, web servers (Tomcat/Apache), CI/CD pipelines, Docker/Kubernetes, experience operating high-traffic consumer-facing applications, and exposure to observability and performance optimization.
