Alpha Online, part of CarOnSale since 2024, develops process management software for professional used-car dealerships across Germany. The core product, AlphaController, manages all workflows in car dealerships—from vehicle assessment to sale—and is trusted by Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Porsche, and Audi.
You will develop and optimize the AlphaController platform and surrounding applications. Your responsibilities include building new backend functions and services with focus on performance, scalability, and security; designing and maintaining integrations with external systems via SOAP and REST APIs; owning features through the entire development lifecycle from conception to deployment; and collaborating closely with frontend and DevOps teams on architecture and interface design.
The tech stack includes PHP 8.x and JavaScript, with frameworks like Smarty and PHPUnit; MySQL 8 and Redis for data; Docker, Ubuntu, NGINX, and Bash for infrastructure; and Git, GitLab, PhpStorm, and Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence) for version control and project management. You'll also integrate AI tools into your development workflow and share best practices with the team.
This is a product engineering role, not client services or WordPress work—you'll be shipping real backend logic that powers daily operations for major automotive brands. The position is based in Hamburg with nearly 100% remote flexibility (German residency required). You choose your own workstation with Windows support provided.
