Xero is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Reporting Platform team, which serves over 150 reports to millions of users, accountants, and bookkeepers globally. The team operates across Wellington and Vancouver.
In this role, you will balance approximately 50% hands-on coding and project execution alongside senior engineers with 50% strategic work focused on technical discovery, incident management, and long-term roadmap planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical design and implementation of product features in the Reporting platform, balancing speed, quality, and architectural standards across complex systems
- Guide modernization of legacy .NET frameworks, safely shifting traffic and rolling out updates at scale
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities to embed AI directly into reporting products and the software development lifecycle to improve engineer experience
- Lead incident response, participate in the team's on-call roster, and establish robust testing and continuous deployment strategies
- Elevate team capability by coaching engineers, improving multi-quarter project planning, and fostering an inclusive engineering culture
You will work on critical software used daily by millions of small business customers globally, with opportunities to help set standards for modern development practices and spearhead early-stage AI initiatives.
Requirements:
- Experience operating in high-volume, high-transaction environments (e.g., Fintech, Banking, Major SaaS, or Medtech)
- Full-stack development proficiency, particularly with .NET/C#, React, and SQL; legacy modernization expertise is prioritized
- Proven technical maturity and ownership with a bias for action, strong communication skills, and a builder mindset
- Ability to take accountability for end-to-end deliverables and facilitate technical discovery across organizational silos
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to align stakeholders across multi-quarter initiatives
