Hopper is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to anchor HTS Assist, an agentic AI assistant that resolves flight changes, cancellations, refunds, and bookings over chat and voice for major travel brands. You will own the realtime and voice layer end-to-end, spanning React/TypeScript frontends, Scala and Python services, and GCP infrastructure.
Day-to-day responsibilities include: owning the voice channel completely—telephony and CPaaS integrations (Twilio, Amazon Connect), streaming speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines, realtime model orchestration, and latency/quality budgets; building product features across the full stack including React/TypeScript web chat, Scala/Python backends, and GCP infrastructure; designing for multi-tenant scale with one codebase serving many partners through configuration; building safety and compliance plumbing (guardrails, content filtering, PII redaction) that enterprise partners audit; maintaining revenue-critical deployments through observability, alerting, incident response, and SLA performance; building platform capabilities for forward-deployed engineers to configure partner telephony integrations; and raising the engineering bar through code review, architecture reviews, and mentoring.
You bring 6+ years of software engineering experience with senior-level ownership of production systems and genuine full-stack range. You have hands-on realtime systems experience (voice applications, WebRTC/SIP, streaming media, or comparable low-latency products). You're strong in modern frontend (React, TypeScript) and deep on the backend (Scala or another JVM language, and/or Python), with cloud infrastructure experience on GCP or AWS. You have a track record designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems. You use AI coding tools as standard workflow, with judgment to review and own everything that ships. You have an operable-systems mindset covering SLAs, observability, on-call rotations, and rollback plans. You break down complex problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, ship iteratively, and communicate strongly across product, design, and operations.
Bonus experience includes conversational AI or LLM orchestration (Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper, OpenAI Realtime), cloud telephony or CPaaS platforms (Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, LiveKit), customer service/CRM/contact center/workflow automation tools, and travel industry technologies (PSS/GDS, hotel PMS/CRS).
