Hopper is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to anchor HTS Assist, an agentic AI assistant for travel that resolves flight changes, cancellations, refunds, and bookings over chat and voice for major travel brands. You will own the realtime and voice layer end-to-end, spanning React/TypeScript frontends, Scala and Python services, and GCP infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include owning the voice channel completely—telephony and CPaaS integrations (Twilio, Amazon Connect), streaming speech-to-text and text-to-speech pipelines, realtime model orchestration, and latency/quality budgets. You'll build product features across the full stack: React/TypeScript web chat, backend services in Scala and Python, and GCP infrastructure. Design work focuses on multi-tenant scale with one codebase serving many partners through configuration. You'll implement safety and compliance plumbing for enterprise audits, including guardrails, content filtering, and PII redaction. Operational excellence is critical—maintaining revenue-critical deployments through observability, alerting, incident response, and SLA performance. You'll also build platform capabilities that forward-deployed engineers configure for partner integrations and go-lives, and raise the engineering bar through code review, architecture reviews, and mentoring. Ideal candidates bring 6+ years of software engineering with senior-level ownership of production systems and genuine full-stack range. Hands-on realtime systems experience is essential—voice applications, WebRTC/SIP, streaming media, or comparable low-latency products. Strong modern frontend skills (React, TypeScript) paired with backend depth (Scala or JVM language, and/or Python) and cloud infrastructure experience (GCP or AWS). Track record designing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems. Comfort using AI coding tools as standard workflow with judgment to review and own everything shipped. Operable-systems mindset covering SLAs, observability, on-call rotations, and rollback plans. Ability to break down complex problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, ship iteratively, and communicate across product, design, and operations. Bonus experience includes conversational AI or LLM orchestration (Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper, OpenAI Realtime), cloud telephony or CPaaS platforms (Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, LiveKit), customer service/CRM/contact center/workflow automation tools, and travel industry technologies (PSS/GDS, hotel PMS/CRS). Hopper is a well-funded, proven startup with large ambitions. The company powers a leading travel platform serving hundreds of millions globally, with a mobile app downloaded over 120 million times. Through HTS (Hopper Technology Solutions), Hopper partners with major brands like Capital One, Nubank, and Air Canada. The team is lean and senior; ownership is broad and the path from code to traveler impact is short.
