Smava is Germany's leading online credit comparison platform with over 300,000 satisfied customers. The company is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the cross-selling tech team, which focuses on connecting customers to relevant financial products beyond consumer loans, including income protection insurance and other complementary offerings.
In this role, you will work in a distributed environment with Node.js and TypeScript microservices running on Kubernetes. You'll build and maintain both customer-facing and internal UIs using React and TypeScript, while designing scalable backend services. Key responsibilities include conceptualizing and implementing new functionality, optimizing business-critical systems, integrating third-party services, and designing event-driven architectures using AWS SNS and SQS.
You will implement real-time features using WebSocket technologies with Redis adapters, define inter-service contracts using Protobuf, and ensure secure authentication flows with OAuth and JWT. The role emphasizes end-to-end ownership—you build it, you run it, you own it—including DevOps responsibilities. You'll collaborate closely with engineering managers and product owners on planning and feature development, and participate actively in team decision-making around goals, concepts, and technical stack choices.
Required expertise includes expert-level Node.js and TypeScript for distributed applications, strong event-driven architecture design, extensive frontend development experience with React in B2C contexts, and hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitHub Actions. Experience with the LGTM observability stack (Loki, Grafana, Tempo, Prometheus/Mimir) is a plus. Domain experience in customer communications or sales/advisory is valued. You should demonstrate true end-to-end ownership, independently leading complex initiatives, making pragmatic decisions, and ensuring high-quality execution from concept through production.
