k-ID is the global leader in privacy-first compliance and age verification infrastructure, recognized as one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2025 and a World Economic Forum Tech Pioneer. The company provides the Age Layer for the internet—fundamental infrastructure enabling digital platforms to verify age and manage compliance globally across 200+ markets without friction.
Labs is k-ID's innovation team, responsible for building next-generation products and capabilities that become core platform features. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer in Labs, you will own the complete build lifecycle: taking validated ideas through to production-ready products that scale with real customers. You will work closely with end users and see your work reach production quickly.
The role is distinctive in its use of AI coding agents. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing detailed technical specifications for agents to build against, reviewing and iterating on the code they produce, and continuously improving your development workflow. You will shape how the team operates with this new paradigm—this is core to the role, not incidental.
You will make architecture decisions, own quality standards, and operate the systems you ship. This is a hands-on senior position for someone who executes independently, makes sound technical decisions, and thrives in environments where systems and processes are still evolving. You will partner with product managers, designers, and legal stakeholders to translate complex compliance requirements into clear, usable product experiences.
Key responsibilities include building and maintaining full-stack applications from first release through production scale, writing specifications for agent-based development, iterating on development tooling, contributing to technical design across frontend/backend/APIs/data flows, hardening systems for load and accuracy, developing responsive applications with Next.js, supporting production systems through debugging and fixes, maintaining high code quality standards, and contributing to engineering culture through ownership and collaboration.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent; 6+ years professional software engineering experience, ideally in startups or high-growth environments; demonstrated production experience with coding agents including specification and code review; strong expertise in Go, TypeScript, React, and Next.js; experience building modern full-stack applications with PostgreSQL, Redis, S3, and Kubernetes; server-rendered web applications and modern frontend architecture; ability to take systems from design through production and operate them; experience partnering with designers; comfort across product requirements, technical design, implementation, testing, and production support; ability to operate in fast-paced environments with ambiguity; strong English communication; ability to work with a few hours daily overlap starting 14:00 UTC. Compliance or regulated product experience is a plus.
