As a Senior Full-Stack Engineer on the Internal Tools team, you will architect, implement, and maintain frontend applications and backend services that power the user experience for millions of traders managing billions of dollars in assets. You'll own the full stack—from frontend trading dashboards to backend systems—supporting product features like elite accounts, high-yield cash, and paper trading accounts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting and developing full-stack software solutions that push technological boundaries
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and deploy high-visibility features from conception to production
- Contributing to API design and product features within Alpaca's ecosystem
- Mentoring peers and influencing the technical strategy of the company
- Working closely with users and internal stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Diving deep into backend systems and infrastructure that power financial markets
You'll work in a culture emphasizing curiosity, empathy, and accountability, building elegant and robust systems in a specialized, focused engineering team.
**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of experience with modern systems programming languages (Golang, C++, or Rust)
- 3+ years of frontend development experience with TypeScript/React
- Proficiency with SQL and relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS frameworks such as TailwindCSS
- Proven track record of building user-facing features end-to-end
- Experience with REST APIs and WebSockets best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and appreciation for design aesthetics
**Nice-to-haves:**
- Algo trading experience (professional or personal)
- Experience with major cloud platforms (company primarily uses GCP)
- Understanding of financial markets
