Pivotal Health is a technology platform helping healthcare providers navigate complex reimbursement landscapes and dispute underpaid claims through an AI-driven, integrated solution. The company combines software, data, and services to simplify workflows around Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) and broader reimbursement operations.
You'll join the Integrations team as a Senior Full Stack Engineer, owning the backend systems and frontend surfaces that connect Pivotal's platform to external healthcare data sources, billing tools, and partner APIs. This is a full-ownership role on a small, fast-moving team still defining itself.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain backend services, pipelines, and APIs connecting to external healthcare systems, billing platforms, and data sources
- Develop React-based interfaces for internal teams and customers to monitor integration status, configure mappings, and troubleshoot data flow
- Handle real-world healthcare data challenges: SFTP ingestion, evolving file formats, inconsistent schemas, complex onboarding workflows
- Participate actively in technical planning and architectural decisions
- Work directly with product and stakeholders to translate integration requirements into sound technical plans
- Write reliable, maintainable code with high standards for testing and system design
- Communicate blockers, risks, and open questions proactively
You bring 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong backend fundamentals (system design, data modeling, API development, service reliability) and genuine comfort building frontend features. You're experienced with database-heavy systems, real-world messy data, React-based development, and third-party API integrations. You thrive in greenfield environments with evolving requirements, collaborate across functions, and are self-directed and proactive. Python backend experience is preferred; other languages welcome if you can interview in Python and ramp quickly.
Extra credit for healthcare integration experience (EDI workflows, HL7/FHIR, ICD-10/CPT, Epic/Cerner), SFTP-based ingestion, TypeScript/React Router/Remix, FastAPI, forward-deployed engineering roles, or FinTech/HealthTech background with sensitive data handling.
