In this Senior Full Stack Engineer II role (backend-leaning), you will design and build the backend systems powering LeafLink's financial services platform. You'll own features end-to-end—from data model and service architecture through API design and Angular frontend implementation. Your primary focus will be payment workflows, transaction processing, and industry integrations, while maintaining the flexibility to ship complete features across the full stack.
Key responsibilities include: designing and building backend services using Java and modern JVM frameworks; owning features end-to-end with full autonomy; building and maintaining APIs for internal services, external integrations, and frontend consumption; contributing to architectural evolution of service-oriented, event-driven systems; improving system reliability, performance, and observability; refactoring and modernizing legacy systems; troubleshooting production issues; partnering with product and design teams; participating in code reviews; and leveraging AI-powered development tools (Claude, Copilot, Cursor) as part of daily workflow while applying strong engineering judgment to validate correctness, security, and quality.
You'll bring 5+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments, deep expertise with Java and JVM frameworks, API and service-oriented system design skills, relational database and large dataset experience, distributed systems and event-driven architecture knowledge, and working proficiency with modern reactive frontend frameworks (Angular preferred; Vue or React acceptable) and TypeScript. Docker and Kubernetes familiarity, hands-on experience with AI coding assistants, and strong independent problem-solving abilities are essential. Experience in regulated industries (financial services or cannabis) is a plus.
