Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. The company operates five satellites on orbit with a $1B+ commercial contract backlog. With 450+ engineers and $750M in funding from top-tier investors (Andreessen Horowitz, Blackrock, Fidelity), Astranis designs, builds, and operates satellites from its 153,000 sq ft Northern California headquarters.
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Enterprise Systems team, you will own the development of internal software systems that enable automated testing, manufacturing, and real-time control of flight hardware and spacecraft. This is a high-impact, multidisciplinary role spanning hardware, embedded systems, operations, production, and software engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement full-stack software systems for automated hardware component and spacecraft system testing
- Own UI and backend development for internal tools used in test infrastructure, manufacturing, and spacecraft operations
- Develop component- and system-level automated production infrastructure using Python and full-stack technologies
- Collaborate with satellite operators and manufacturing technicians to build UI workflows for mission operations, command execution, and telemetry visualization
- Drive cross-functional collaboration on software architecture, technical design, and hardware/software test strategy
- Contribute to recruiting and interviewing as the team scales
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years professional full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Python
- Experience with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks
- SQL/relational database experience (Postgres preferred)
- REST API and backend service development
- Linux, shell tools, and Git proficiency
- Rapid prototyping and UI development with strong UX focus
- Cloud deployment experience (AWS, GCP) and on-premises infrastructure
Bonus qualifications include hardware/embedded systems tooling, Docker/Kubernetes, design systems, satellite operations background, test instrumentation, automated test strategies, manufacturing software deployment, and experience reading datasheets and debugging analog/digital interfaces.
