Salary: USD 124,800 - 183,400 / annual
GOAT Group is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join the Consumer team, with a strong emphasis on backend architecture and end-to-end feature delivery. You will own both backend and frontend architecture and execution across consumer-facing features in a high-autonomy environment.
In this role, you will lead full stack architecture and system design, proactively proposing and driving new systems that support critical customer-facing features. You'll take point on initiatives, owning the backend roadmap, driving technical decisions, and coordinating cross-functional delivery. You'll own end-to-end execution from shaping the technical approach to delivering stable, performant, well-tested features.
You will optimize existing systems for performance, reliability, and cost, treating production health as a first-class priority. You'll serve as the team's technical anchor: setting engineering standards, leading design reviews, and unblocking teammates. You'll manage technical roadmap and problems of significantly larger scope, from formulating efficient game plans to delivering stable, well-tested features on time.
You'll make technical recommendations that improve the codebase while minimizing risk, identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks, and coordinate seamlessly across engineering, product, and design teams. You'll leverage AI coding tools (Claude, Codex, etc.) to accelerate development velocity for yourself and the team.
Required: 7+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend/distributed systems and practical experience building or improving high-traffic, user-facing web applications. Proven track record of leading teams to execute and ship features. Strong proficiency in Go, Python, Ruby, or similar backend languages. Strong frontend experience with React, TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, or similar modern web technologies. Hands-on experience designing, building, and scaling distributed systems at scale. Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools. T-shaped engineer mindset with deep expertise in at least one domain. Proactive ownership mentality. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building consensus. Experience with high-traffic consumer applications. Familiarity with modern web services and cloud-native architectures. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
Nice to have: Experience with high-scale commerce events and ecommerce applications.
