Checkbook enables businesses to transition from paper checks to digital payments, providing a bridge for companies at any stage of their digital transformation. The platform combines the speed, flexibility, and cost savings of digital payments with the familiarity of traditional check-based workflows.
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will design, build, and scale the payments platform across the entire stack—from database architecture and backend services to APIs and user interfaces. You'll work primarily with Python, PostgreSQL, and modern frontend frameworks, taking ownership of projects from initial architecture through production launch.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing web applications that meet industry standards and deliver exceptional user experiences
- Building and shipping robust APIs that integrate with internal systems, partner platforms, and customer infrastructure
- Ensuring application security and data integrity to protect user information
- Designing and optimizing database schemas, queries, and data models for performance and scalability
- Developing automation tools and testing strategies to maintain application quality and stability
- Staying current with emerging web technologies, industry trends, and engineering best practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of professional experience with Python, PostgreSQL, and frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js, Ember, or similar) building production web applications
- Proficiency with Python web frameworks including Flask, FastAPI, and Django
- Ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions
- Strong problem-solving skills and creative approach to technical challenges
- Background in fintech is a plus but not required
