Pacific Fusion, founded in 2023, is building pulser-driven inertial fusion systems to achieve net facility gain and deliver abundant, affordable, clean energy. The company has raised over $900M and is rapidly scaling from hardware prototypes to mass production and continuous operations at their Demonstration System. As Senior Full Stack Developer, you will architect and develop critical data acquisition systems and web applications that enable Pacific Fusion's exponential data growth. You'll design and implement front-end user experiences for pulser factory hardware testing systems, reducing build and commissioning time for shipping-container-sized pulser modules. Your responsibilities include defining database schemas for heterogeneous data from controls systems, hardware testing equipment, and experimental diagnostics; architecting data flow and UX for the Demonstration System; and building APIs to access and process data. Key responsibilities: - Design and implement front-end UX for pulser factory hardware testing, accelerating module delivery - Create Figma prototypes and UI demos to align stakeholder consensus on design - Define and deploy database systems for diverse data sources (controls, testing equipment, diagnostics) - Architect data flow and UX for the Demonstration System, aggregating diagnostics into actionable insights - Partner with fusion scientists to optimize data-driven decision-making for achieving facility gain - Lead by example in execution excellence and drive company culture toward rigorous, expeditious delivery - Build and lead a team to deliver mission-critical systems Required experience: - 7+ years developing interactive web apps with React - Strong expertise with data streaming/messaging systems (Kafka, MQTT, or similar) - Strong database systems knowledge (timeseries, SQL, NoSQL; InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, MongoDB, MariaDB, or similar) - Strong back-end application development (Golang, Python, or similar languages) - Competency with CI/CD workflows and tooling - Excellent interpersonal skills to understand system requirements and enable end users - Track record of driving strategic decisions with high-volume, uncertain data Bonus: hard tech industry experience (fusion, aerospace, EVs, energy, robotics), collaboration with PhD scientists and R&D organizations, familiarity with quantitative data databases, or team leadership in fast-paced environments.
