Canva is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Quality Platform Team within the Infrastructure group. This role focuses on building the testing infrastructure and frameworks that empower thousands of engineers across Canva to test effectively and confidently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Significantly enhance the frontend testing experience (TypeScript, JavaScript) for all engineers at Canva by building software, frameworks and infrastructure that underpin how engineers test their code
- Design, build and evolve core components of the Quality Platform to empower engineers to test effectively
- Lead technical design and delivery of platform solutions, partnering with and influencing engineering teams across Canva to improve developer velocity and quality
- Drive significant engineering initiatives to reduce test flakiness, improve test health visibility and implement smarter diagnostics
- Improve systems behind CI/CD test feedback loops, ensuring engineers receive fast, actionable test results
- Own and proactively improve the architecture, health, scalability and performance of testing infrastructure
- Contribute to the technical direction of Canva's testing ecosystem
The Quality Platform Team sits within the Developer Experience group and is Canva's central pillar for quality engineering, owning the automated testing ecosystem and defining the Canva Testing Strategy. The team creates internal tools and systems that empower teams to shift-left on quality, including testing infrastructure, dashboards and UI integrations.

Requirements:
- Strong software engineering craft with demonstrated experience designing, building and maintaining robust software systems; strong knowledge of system design, data structures and operational best practices
- Comfortable making sound technical and architectural trade-offs and remain hands-on in implementation
- Experience with developer tooling, testing infrastructure, CI/CD systems, platform engineering or similar areas where users are developers
- Experience leading significant software engineering initiatives from problem definition through technical design, implementation, delivery and adoption
- Understanding of test automation principles across different levels (unit, integration, E2E) and engineering challenges in building reliable, maintainable and scalable testing frameworks
- Developer-centric mindset; ability to put yourself in the shoes of other engineers and shape intuitive, low-friction developer experiences
- Ability to navigate complex and ambiguous software engineering challenges independently, identify root causes and make pragmatic trade-offs
- Strong communication skills; ability to articulate complex technical concepts, build alignment across teams and influence technical decisions beyond immediate team
- Proactive, results-oriented and comfortable navigating ambiguity
- Coding interview will be conducted in JavaScript
