As a Senior Front-End Engineer in App Experience, you will help lead this platform transformation. You'll design and architect flexible platform building blocks while collaborating with product development teams, customers, and partners to understand customization needs. The role involves designing, coding, testing, and shipping frontend interfaces and libraries that deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and architecting flexible platform building blocks for the PagerDuty Platform
- Building frontend interfaces and libraries from day one, ensuring security, reliability, and scalability
- Collaborating closely with engineers across teams and operating what you build
- Mentoring and teaching frontend skills to other engineers
- Curating the frontend design system in a complex distributed system
- Developing frontend architecture patterns that scale across the engineering organization
- Writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Owning and shepherding projects your team takes on
- Creating alignment among stakeholders about recommended technical directions
- Participating in on-call team rotation
You'll work closely with Product and UX to create the design system and deliver innovative product features. The App Experience team is focused on enabling partners, consultants, and customers to customize the platform and create deeper integrations.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience building and managing web apps using a modern component-based framework
- Deep understanding of semantic HTML and client-side JavaScript
- Knowledge of core frontend engineering areas: state management, performance, accessibility, styling, infrastructure
- Strong experience designing and building REST APIs
- Experience with React, TypeScript, Node, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and AI-driven development
- Experience with agile delivery methodologies (scrum, kanban, lean)
- Public cloud engineering experience on AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP
- Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate technical discussions
- Commitment to sustainable and inclusive team practices
PREFERRED:
- Experience with component libraries or design systems
- Experience with distributed React applications
- Experience architecting or building developer platforms
- Preference for regular, incremental delivery over perfection
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement
