We're seeking an experienced Senior Front End Engineer to join our Early Bets initiatives team. This role focuses on building 0-to-1 products and new experiences that expand EarnIn's ecosystem. You'll work in an environment that embraces uncertainty and requires strong technical decision-making in ambiguous contexts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with Product and Design to define and evolve user experiences using modern frontend technologies
- Own and evolve frontend architecture for scalability, performance, accessibility, and maintainability
- Lead design and implementation of complex frontend systems using React, TypeScript, and Next.js (SSR, routing, data fetching, performance optimization)
- Establish and uphold frontend engineering standards, patterns, tooling, testing strategies, and CI/CD best practices
- Drive cross-team technical initiatives, aligning frontend architecture with backend APIs and product strategy
- Identify technical risks and opportunities, providing clear technical direction and trade-off analysis
- Mentor and guide frontend engineers, raising the bar on code quality and architectural thinking
- Design and implement robust unit, integration, and UI automation tests
- Define and monitor frontend metrics (performance, reliability, user behavior) to inform decisions
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Expert-level proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js
- Strong experience with frontend architecture, state management, component design, design systems, and performance optimization
- 4+ years of industry experience with significant depth in frontend or web platform development
- Experience building and operating production web applications with server-side and client-side rendering
- Deep understanding of software engineering best practices (testing, code reviews, observability, operational excellence)
- Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for frontend delivery and integration
- AI-assisted development tools experience (Copilot, Cursor, LLMs) is a plus
This role offers flexibility: fully remote anywhere in Canada or hybrid from the Vancouver office (2 days per week in-office).
