CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to join our dynamic, cross-functional team in a hands-on startup environment. In this role, you will own FPGA circuits and systems across all phases of the development lifecycle—from design through verification, test, and deployment at the HDL level. Your responsibilities will include: • Designing and implementing FPGA HDL systems featuring high-speed serial interfaces, data streams, digital processing cores, multiple clock domains, and management interfaces • Conducting comprehensive testing, validation, and verification of FPGA designs • Collaborating with cross-functional teams in a dynamic startup setting • Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership • Contributing to proposal-writing efforts • Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences You will work on cutting-edge hardware for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems. Experience in digital signal processing or board-level hardware design is desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will interface regularly with customers and leadership. Note: Due to U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulations, applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution • Minimum 6 years of industry or university research experience in FPGA design, analysis, and implementation at the HDL level • Expertise in FPGA design and verification tools: Verilog/VHDL, HDL coder, Xilinx Vivado, Modelsim, or equivalent • Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers • Excellent written and verbal communication skills PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: • Aerospace design and qualification • Worst-case analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability analysis • Board-level hardware design • Communications systems and digital signal processing
