CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer II to join our dynamic, cross-functional team.
In this role, you will own FPGA circuits and systems throughout the entire development lifecycle—from design through verification, test, and deployment at the HDL level. Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing and implementing FPGA systems with high-speed serial interfaces, digital processing cores, multiple clock domains, and management interfaces
• Conducting comprehensive testing, validation, and verification of FPGA designs
• Collaborating across hardware and systems teams in a startup environment
• Presenting engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
• Contributing to proposal-writing efforts
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in FPGA design and verification, strong lab skills, and excellent communication abilities. Experience in digital signal processing or board-level hardware design is desirable. You will work on leading-edge hardware for aerospace and space systems in a collaborative, autonomous work environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited institution
• Minimum 6 years of industry or university research experience in FPGA design, analysis, and implementation at the HDL level
• Expertise in FPGA design and verification tools: Verilog/VHDL, HDL Coder, Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim, or equivalent
• Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status (lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee; or eligible to obtain required State Department authorizations)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Aerospace design and qualification
• Worst-case analysis, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and reliability analysis
• Board-level hardware design
• Communications systems and digital signal processing
