CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer II to join their team developing cutting-edge communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic startup environment focused on aerospace and space technology.
In this position, you will own FPGA circuits and systems throughout all phases of the development lifecycle, from design through deployment. Your core responsibilities include:
- Design, verification, test, and deployment of FPGA systems at the HDL level
- Development of FPGA designs incorporating high-speed serial interfaces, data streams, digital processing cores, multiple clock domains, and management interfaces
- Testing, validation, and verification of FPGA implementations
- Presentation of engineering design review materials to customers and executive leadership
- Participation in proposal-writing efforts
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in FPGA design and verification, with hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and lab instruments. You should be comfortable working across the full hardware stack and communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable experience includes digital signal processing, board-level hardware design, aerospace design and qualification, worst-case analysis, failure method and criticality analyses, and reliability analysis.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 6 years of industry or university research experience in FPGA design, analysis, and implementation at the HDL level
- Expertise in FPGA design and verification tools: Verilog/VHDL, HDL Coder, Xilinx Vivado, ModelSim, or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with lab instruments: digital oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, vector signal analyzers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status (required for government space technology export compliance)
