Hippocratic AI is building a healthcare-focused LLM platform with safety as a core principle. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will design and architect sophisticated AI systems that solve cutting-edge problems in healthcare conversational AI. This role combines deep AI expertise with systems architecture thinking, balancing ambitious innovation with production reliability.
You will own the full technical vision for complex AI deployments, including architecting advanced RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) systems, designing sophisticated tool-calling and MCP integration patterns, implementing cutting-edge LLM techniques, and ensuring production reliability across multiple systems. You'll work closely with Deployment Strategists and Customer Success Engineers to deliver AI agents that set new standards for innovation and reliability in healthcare.
Key responsibilities include designing cutting-edge AI solutions to novel healthcare challenges, implementing advanced RAG systems optimized for relevance, latency, and cost, applying sophisticated LLM engineering patterns (LLM-as-judge, multi-turn reasoning, complex prompt engineering), proactively identifying and solving customer issues before they impact clinical operations, designing infrastructure for high-reliability AI systems with comprehensive monitoring and incident response, leading technical execution for sophisticated deployments, and mentoring junior engineers on AI development and production patterns.
You bring 5-7 years of software engineering experience with expert-level Python and production systems expertise. You have advanced hands-on experience with LLM frameworks like LangChain and LangSmith, deep understanding of RAG and tool calling patterns, and proven ability to architect complex AI systems for reliability and scale. You understand sophisticated enterprise integrations, systems reliability, error handling, and operational patterns. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field from a top-ranked university is required.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience designing and optimizing advanced RAG systems at scale, hands-on experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP), healthcare IT experience (EHR integrations, FHIR, HL7), experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives, and contributions to AI/ML open source projects.
