K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, backed by $450M in funding from top-tier investors including Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and T. Rowe Price. The company is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions across LEO to deep space, capitalizing on the era of heavy-lift launch vehicles and mass abundance.
In this role, you will spearhead the clean-sheet manufacturing effort for K2's first Pumped Fluid Loop (PFL)—a critical thermal management system enabling the highest-powered payloads ever deployed in space. You will partner closely with design engineers to ensure manufacturability, build the first prototype, design the manufacturing flow and tooling, and transition components from design to rate production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Standing up a dedicated work center for fluid component manufacturing, assembly, and testing
- Leading Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts with design teams, influencing architecture decisions to optimize cost, quality, and producibility
- Building the first prototype and iterating on design, tooling, and station setup
- Designing and implementing the build flow, work instructions, and test protocols
- Transitioning the PFL system from prototype to production-ready status within the first year
- Establishing quality standards, test procedures, and manufacturing processes for space-qualified fluid systems
This is a hands-on engineering role at a Series C space startup with multiple launches planned through 2026–2027. You will work in a fast-paced environment where your manufacturing expertise directly enables K2's mission to develop next-generation satellite capability.
