CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer II to join the Internal Missions team. You will own the development and testing of satellite flight software across all stages of the development lifecycle, from architecture through validation and verification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing flight software for spacecraft subsystems including attitude control, command and data handling, navigation, thermal management, and power systems
- Developing Linux-based satellite operating systems and low-level embedded software
- Creating software-in-the-loop testing frameworks and validation procedures
- Defining software requirements, architecture, and block diagrams
- Conducting code reviews and ensuring quality standards
- Mentoring and growing a team of spacecraft software engineers
- Identifying innovative solutions to complex space mission challenges
- Communicating technical results and decisions to cross-functional teams
You will work in a dynamic startup environment alongside senior and principal engineers, contributing to the full lifecycle of satellite systems from development through orbital deployment. The role emphasizes hands-on technical work combined with team leadership and mentorship responsibilities.
