Salary: USD 150,000 - 200,000 / annual
Cowboy Space Corp. is building orbital infrastructure to power and connect the emerging space economy. Founded in 2024 by Baiju Bhatt (Robinhood co-founder) and backed by leading investors, the company operates satellites in Low Earth Orbit for on-orbit compute, space-to-earth and space-to-space energy transmission via infrared lasers, and secure optical data delivery. The team draws from top aerospace and defense organizations and is moving rapidly to solve complex technical challenges in space infrastructure.
As a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer, you will support the development, analysis, and validation of advanced aerospace systems, combining strong analytical skills with hands-on simulation and systems engineering experience. You will drive mission design, flight dynamics, and autonomous control system development.
Key responsibilities include: developing and analyzing launch vehicle and spacecraft trajectories (ascent, orbit insertion, orbital maneuvers); performing orbital propagation and station-keeping analysis; supporting mission design including launch window analysis, delta-V budgets, and contingency planning; interfacing with flight software and guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) teams to validate and optimize guidance profiles; contributing to in-house simulation tools and flight dynamics infrastructure; engaging in multi-disciplinary vehicle systems investigations; and developing flight termination system mission rules.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Space Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent Engineering/Applied Physics; experience with orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation; mission analysis using STK, Astrogator, GMAT, Monte, Copernicus, or equivalent tools; Python software development.
Preferred qualifications include experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, missiles, hypersonics, UAVs, or defense systems; orbit determination analysis with ODTK, Orekit, or equivalent; and team or software project management experience.
