CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer II to lead orbit design, trajectory analysis, and orbit determination efforts across spacecraft operations. This role owns the flight dynamics function from early mission concept through launch, commissioning, and on-orbit operations, requiring deep technical expertise and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading orbit design and trajectory analysis for satellite missions
- Conducting orbit determination analysis to support spacecraft operations
- Shaping mission architecture and ensuring orbital safety and compliance
- Building scalable tools and processes for flight dynamics in a fast-paced startup environment
- Collaborating closely with engineering teams and program management
- Supporting the design, build, and launch of next-generation rideshare satellites
The company is developing advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. Their flagship satellite, Element, is positioned as the largest and most powerful rideshare satellite in LEO, with eight planned launches over the next four years, beginning this year.
This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, cross-functional environment where you will directly impact mission success and spacecraft reliability. The ideal candidate brings expertise in orbital mechanics, mission design, and the ability to iterate rapidly while balancing performance, reliability, and manufacturability in a startup setting.
