Graphcore is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to own the firmware that brings Graphcore's AI compute hardware and silicon to life. In this role, you will design, develop, and deliver firmware for next-generation products, working close to the hardware to shape how systems boot, run, and communicate. You will build software that supports complete hardware bootup, silicon interaction, telemetry, and monitoring. Your code will connect silicon, drivers, host systems, and datacenter operations. You'll participate in technical design discussions across Graphcore and with partners, helping engineers solve complex firmware problems and raising engineering standards across the team. The Firmware team writes the software that enables Graphcore hardware and silicon to start, operate, and report reliably. Work is practical, technical, and close to the product. Engineers are expected to own outcomes, speak up in design discussions, and move work forward. Decisions are shaped through technical debate, code reviews, and Agile ceremonies. You will work with firmware specialists, system software engineers, partners, and wider product teams in a focused environment where responsibility is shared by people who understand the detail. Required qualifications include strong embedded software engineering experience using C or C++, experience designing and implementing real-time embedded systems using Zephyr or similar RTOS, proven ability to understand and debug complex embedded platforms, clear problem-solving skills, strong communication and documentation abilities, and solid understanding of CI, build systems, and software packaging best practices. Graphcore values transferable skills and diverse experiences, and welcomes engineers returning to the profession after career breaks. The company offers flexible working, generous leave, up to 5% matched pension, phantom equity, thoughtfully designed office spaces with free food and on-site barista, income protection and life assurance, and flexible benefits including private medical insurance and dental cover.
