Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join the Advanced Infrared Solutions (AIRS) team in Hudson, New Hampshire. AIRS, acquired by Anduril in 2025, designs and manufactures world-class cooled infrared cameras and subsystems, including Integrated Dewar Cooler Assemblies (IDCAs), for defense, space, and commercial applications. In this role, you will lead FPGA architecture, standards, and development processes while working with an interdisciplinary technical team to design new product lines. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle from design and analysis through prototyping, ground and flight testing, and product maturation. Key responsibilities include: • Lead FPGA architecture, standards, development and review processes across the team • Design, architect, simulate, and integrate VHDL designs into FPGAs or Systems on Chip (SoCs) for optimized performance, resource utilization, and power efficiency • Collaborate with electrical engineers, software engineers, and systems engineers to ensure seamless hardware/software integration, including processor bring-up and board support packages • Develop robust test benches in VHDL/Verilog and utilize lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) for rigorous testing and validation against functional specifications • Optimize algorithms for hardware acceleration, including MIPS optimization and efficient use of on-chip bus protocols like AXI and AXI-Stream Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field, plus 10+ years of experience developing HDL firmware for FPGA devices. You must have expertise in VHDL and/or Verilog/SystemVerilog for RTL design, experience with industry-standard FPGA tools (Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus), strong hardware/software debugging skills, and proficiency with version control systems like Git.
