Lavu is a cloud-based POS and restaurant operations platform serving high-growth restaurants globally. The company unifies restaurant operations and finance into a single platform, helping owners maximize profitability and streamline payments.
You will own the financial engine of the business as Senior Finance Manager, reporting to the VP of Finance. This is a hands-on, broad-scope role suited for someone who has carried full financial responsibility at a smaller company and wants to expand ownership while maintaining breadth across multiple finance functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Three-Statement Reporting & Month-End Close: Own the complete three-statement process (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) end-to-end, including linkages, roll-forwards, and reconciliations. Drive monthly and quarterly closes with journal entries, accruals, deferred revenue, prepaid schedules, fixed assets, and intercompany eliminations. Produce monthly reporting packages for leadership and the board with variance analysis and narrative explanations. Maintain and continuously improve the chart of accounts, close checklist, and supporting documentation to ensure repeatability and audit readiness.
Cash Flow Management: Own the 13-week rolling cash flow forecast and longer-range projections. Report on liquidity, runway, and variances to leadership. Manage working capital levers including DSO, DPO, deferred revenue timing, merchant reserves, and settlement flows. Oversee treasury operations (banking, account structure, payment approvals, controls, cash positioning). Monitor debt covenants and lender/investor reporting obligations.
Modeling & Forecasting: Build and maintain the integrated operating model used for annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasts, and long-range planning in collaboration with the VP of Finance. Model key business drivers: subscription and hardware revenue, payments volume and attach rate, churn and retention, gross margin, headcount, and unit economics. Build scenario and sensitivity analyses for pricing, market entry, hiring, capital decisions, and downside cases. Support ad hoc analysis for leadership, board, lenders, and diligence processes.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Own sales and use tax end-to-end (nexus monitoring, registrations, taxability determinations, notices, audits). Manage federal income tax return preparation in partnership with external advisors. Coordinate state income, franchise tax filings, annual reports, and business registrations. Support international tax and indirect tax matters (VAT/GST, withholding, transfer pricing) with local advisors. Maintain compliance calendar to ensure timely filings.
Audit & Internal Controls: Assist with external audit/review (manage PBC list, prepare workpapers, respond to inquiries). Prepare financial statements and footnote disclosures under US GAAP (ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 lease accounting). Design, document, and enforce internal controls over financial reporting. Support customer and partner compliance requests.
Billing, Collections & Revenue Operations: Oversee order-to-cash cycle (contract setup, invoicing, subscription/usage billing, payment application, revenue recognition). Manage collections strategy and performance (aging review, escalation, dunning, write-off policy, allowance for credit losses). Drive measurable improvement in DSO and bad debt. Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Support to resolve disputes and eliminate upstream problems. Lead automation and process improvements in billing systems.
International & Cross-Functional Partnership: Work daily with international team members, outsourced accounting partners, and local advisors across time zones. Act as finance business partner to department leaders. Mentor junior finance and accounting staff.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or closely related field
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with demonstrated scope expansion
- Hands-on ownership of complete three-statement process (built and maintained linked financials, not just reviewed)
- Direct cash flow management experience including rolling forecasts and working capital management
- Direct responsibility for multi-state sales and use tax compliance (nexus analysis through filing and audit defense)
- Experience coordinating federal income tax return preparation with external tax advisors
- Experience leading or serving as primary contact for external audit, including workpaper preparation and US GAAP financial statements
- Strong financial modeling and forecasting skills with advanced Excel or Google Sheets proficiency
- Experience working with international teams, offshore accounting partners, or foreign subsidiaries
- Oversight of billing and collections functions with track record of improving DSO or reducing bad debt
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to explain variances to non-finance leaders without jargon
- High integrity, strong attention to detail, sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
- SaaS, payments, or fintech experience (subscription revenue, merchant settlement flows)
- Public accounting background (audit or tax)
- Multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation experience
- Familiarity with ERP/finance systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks), tax engines (Avalara, Anorak, Vertex), billing platforms (Stripe, Chargebee, Zuora)
- SQL or BI tool proficiency
- Experience with private-equity-backed or venture-backed companies
