Cognite is seeking a Senior Field Engineer (Forward Deployed) to serve as a technical leader bridging customer success and product innovation in industrial AI and data solutions. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic client engagement, positioning you at the intersection of AI, data architecture, and industrial transformation.
You will partner with Account Executives to identify and execute high-impact strategic opportunities, acting as the technical lead for complex customer engagements. Your primary focus is translating customer strategy into live, functioning solutions using Cognite's Atlas AI™ and Cognite Data Fusion® platforms. You'll lead the design and implementation of agentic AI solutions that automate complex industrial workflows, leveraging the Atlas AI workbench to ensure technical feasibility, scalability, and grounding in contextualized industrial data.
Key responsibilities include leading use case workshops and technical briefings, translating functional and non-functional requirements into high-level deliverables, and building executive confidence through client-focused demos and reference architectures. You'll act as a critical bridge between field deployments and Cognite's Product organization, translating field friction and deployment learnings into actionable product requirements and scalable best practices.
Required qualifications include 3+ years in forward-deployed or pre-sales engineering roles (ideally in enterprise SaaS, cloud platforms, or industrial software), a strong engineering background (Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or Machine Learning preferred), and proficiency in Python with deep understanding of the GenAI landscape (embeddings, RAG, prompt chaining). You must demonstrate excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with willingness to travel up to 50% as needed. Experience with industrial architecture, LLMs (Gemini, Claude, GPT-4), full-stack solution engineering, and technical evangelism is highly valued.
