This role owns material flow responsibility across the entire value chain—from raw materials through finished goods—and serves as a critical link between Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Production.
Key responsibilities include:
Material Planning: Develop clear-to-build plans by evaluating Bills of Material and demand forecasts to generate accurate purchase requisitions aligned with production schedules. Track PO commitments and assess manufacturing readiness. Partner cross-functionally to ensure engineering and procurement activities support demand and timeline requirements. Proactively identify material constraints, manage shortage escalations, and optimize inventory levels (safety stock, min/max parameters) to prevent production disruptions. Establish and monitor KPIs around material availability, schedule attainment, inventory accuracy, and on-time delivery.
Supply Planning: Coordinate with Production Schedulers and Warehouse teams on product staging, picking, and kitting. Own the generation, scheduling, and management of manufacturing work orders, including aging work order management and dynamic priority adjustments based on real-time material availability and capacity changes. Maintain serialized parts traceability and compliance with Quality Management System, defense, and HazMat standards.
ERP & MRP System Ownership: Act as the subject-matter expert for material planning logic in the MRP system. Ensure lead times, reorder points, and master data parameters are regularly reviewed for accuracy. Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, and Production to refine ERP workflows and system effectiveness. Troubleshoot MRP issues, design systemic solutions, and provide training to build Planning Department capability.
Required: 5+ years in Material Planning or Supply Planning; academic background in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Engineering, or related field. Hands-on ERP/MRP system experience with knowledge of Capacity Planning, JIT, Kanban, and Integrated Master Schedules.
