Salary: USD 128,000 - 162,000 / annual

Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world's transition to clean energy. They engineer and manufacture breakthrough battery materials that increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. You will serve as a Senior Equipment Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager, with primary responsibility for the reliable operation and optimization of production equipment. This is a hands-on role focused on day-to-day execution, troubleshooting, and implementing practical design improvements for mechanical systems. Key responsibilities include: - Provide direct mechanical engineering support to troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to vacuum furnaces, pumps, blowers, and material handling equipment - Troubleshoot PLC-based control systems (TwinCAT) and SCADA (Ignition) platforms - Create and revise CAD models, fabrication drawings, and mechanical fixture designs for operational needs and equipment modifications - Work with the Maintenance team to refine equipment health check strategies, maintenance procedures, and lubrication plans - Perform technical reviews of mechanical design documents to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and internal specifications - Establish and maintain relationships with external fabrication and repair services - Utilize operational data to propose and implement condition-based monitoring procedures - Participate in feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for equipment upgrades - Document solutions and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 4+ years of equipment engineering experience in chemical process industries, semiconductor, automotive, or similar high-volume manufacturing; demonstrated experience with industrial processes including high-vacuum systems, pumps, motors, blowers, and valves; hands-on experience building mechanical/electrical systems with machine shop or fabrication background; familiarity with GD&T and mechanical manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding); proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD); working knowledge of applicable codes and standards; strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Physical demands include passing a respirator fit test, wearing PPE, moving items up to 50 lbs with assistance, traveling between buildings, entering confined spaces, climbing stairs, and operating computer equipment.
