Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Workers KV team, which delivers a global, low-latency key-value data storage service integrated with Cloudflare Workers. The team is geographically distributed across Western Europe with available positions in Lisbon, London, or hybrid arrangements.
In this role, you will manage a team of talented engineers building innovative products that bring security and speed to millions of internet users daily. You'll shape product features, improve performance, and drive technical execution to meet ambitious business goals. Your responsibilities include team leadership (hiring, onboarding, professional development), technical strategy, and ensuring delivery of scalable distributed systems.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a distributed engineering team
- Hire and develop high-performing engineers
- Drive technical roadmap and feature prioritization
- Navigate ambiguity in building novel distributed systems
- Ensure predictable delivery and execution against commitments
- Build developer-loved APIs at scale
- Implement tools, processes, and instrumentation to unblock teams
You should have a track record of earning team respect as both a technical leader and manager. Strong communication skills are essential, particularly in building shared understanding of complex systems. You thrive in fast-paced, iterative environments and excel at explaining both "why" and "how."
Required experience includes at least 4 years of professional work with TypeScript or Go, solid computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, design patterns), and deep understanding of web technologies (browsers, HTTP, JavaScript, WebAssembly). Experience leading teams building distributed systems is critical.
