Crusoe is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the SDN Control Plane team, responsible for building and operating the scalable control plane powering VPC networking across Crusoe Cloud's multi-tenant GPU infrastructure. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical ownership with people management.
You will define the roadmap for the VPC control plane and oversee the evolution of network virtualization systems (OVN/OVS) delivering VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancing, NAT, and hybrid connectivity. You'll own the architecture and implementation of distributed control-plane services including intent APIs, state reconciliation, network policy compilation, and southbound host/DPU programming. The role emphasizes aggressive execution timelines—moving features from commit to production within days.
On the reliability side, you'll lead production execution including convergence benchmarking, API-latency optimization, regression prevention, and incident response within 3-6 month cycles. You'll mentor and grow a team of senior and staff-level distributed systems engineers, setting technical standards and fostering accountability.
You'll collaborate closely with data-plane teams (XDP/eBPF, DPDK, DPU offload) and cloud product teams to deliver low-latency, highly available networking for large-scale GPU clusters.
Required: 10+ years in distributed systems or cloud networking engineering, with 5-7+ years managing senior/staff-level talent. Deep knowledge of SDN and network virtualization (overlay networking, VPC constructs, routing, control-plane architectures). Hands-on experience building large-scale control planes with state reconciliation, consensus trade-offs, API design, and fleet-wide configuration propagation. Strong understanding of multi-tenant cloud service operations: SLOs, convergence benchmarking, graceful degradation, and blast-radius containment.
Bonus: DPU/SmartNIC dataplane experience, cloud load balancing/NAT at scale, network security policy engines, or open-source SDN contributions.
